Darlene A. Varaleau, LLB, M.B.A.
Principal, Power Projects Inc.

Darlene Varaleau has over twenty years of consulting experience with clients such as Nortel, Ford, S.A. Armstrong, Placer Development, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), the Government of Ontario and the City of Toronto.


Her projects have included:

  • Design and implementation of the acclaimed "Repair Our Air - Fleet Challenge" a business to business challenge within the transportation industry
  • Project Excellence” with S.A. Armstrong, the largest pump manufacturing company and one of the “Top 50 Best Managed Companies” in Canada
  • Repair Our Air-Fleet Challenge” a business to business challenge amongst fleet managers committed to improving Toronto’s air quality while increasing fuel efficiency and integrating industry best practices
  • Project evaluation of Nortel’s global employee satisfaction program
  • Design of a reorganization strategy for a major public institution in Toronto
  • Implementation of an organization audit for Placer Development Ltd.
  • Design of a leadership development strategy and implementation program for the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services
Darlene is a lawyer and holds a L.L.B. and M.B.A. from the University of Toronto. She also holds a Master of Applied Behavioural Sciences from the Leadership Institute of Spokane.

     Roger Smith
     President, Fleet Challenge Consulting Group Inc.

     Roger Smith is the President of the Fleet Challenge Consulting Group  
     Inc., Director of Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance (CEEA) 
     Environmental Initiatives and a key member of the development team 
     for the E3 Green Fleet Rating System.  


Roger's experience includes: 

  • Consultation regarding green fleet management with private sector fleets across Canada
  • Consultation with provincial and municipal government across Canada including the Fraser Basin Council in BC, Climate Change Central in Alberta, Red River Valley Clean Cities Coalition in Manitoba and the Saskatchewan Research Council 
  • Sixteen years as Manager, Fleet Management Services with the Toronto Hydro Corporation
  • Management roles with GMC Truck and Coach Division and the private sector line-haul industry 
  • Pioneer of Biodiesel use within fleets 
  • Recipient of industry awards for environmental accomplishments within the fleet industry

Roger is passionate about climate change issues and committed to positive environmental change within the transportation industry.  His strategies for financially accountable fleet management practices and green fleet solutions have been published in several industry publications.


     Ken Dack
     President, Ken Dack & Associates

     Ken Dack is the President of Ken Dack & Associates. 
     In addition to his consulting experience, Ken has more than 25
     years of fleet and shop management experience. 
Ken is also a
     licensed Truck and Coach Technician and Automotive
Service
     Technician.

Ken's experience includes:

  • Consultation regarding Biodiesel and "Greening The Fleet" for the federal government, municipalities, industry associations and the private sector

  • Facilitation of a "Bi-National ETV (Environmental Technology Verification) Initiatives for Green Fleets Workshop" to advance the Cross Border Strategy for Environment Canada and the US Environmental Protection Agency

  • Development of Preventive Maintenance Programs for all categories of fleets

  • Development of maintenance and repair procedures to ISO standards

  • Management of fleets consisting of up to 5,000 units of all categories

  • Technical advisor to Natural Resources Canada's SmartDriver for Motor Coach and SmartDriver for Urban Transit programs

  • Co-Chair of the Industry Advisory Committee - Truck and Coach, for the Ontario Ministry of Education, Universities and Training 

Ken is the recipient of the 2001 National Transportation Award of Excellence for Environmental Leadership in the Transportation Industry; the 2002 Repair Our Air - Fleet Challenge Award for Leadership; and the City or Brampton's 2002 Corporate Award of Excellence for Creative Solutions 


      
       Melissa Felder, M.Eng.
       M.Sc. Chemical and Biological Engineering

       Melissa is the president of an independent environmental consulting   
       practice and specializes in strategy consulting; technical analysis and
       research; and market and industry scans.



Her clients have included:

  • World Green Building Council
  • Environment Canada
  • Columbian Hydrocarbon Agency
  • Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources
  • Ontario shared Services Bureau
  • Net Zero Energy Home Coalition
  • Sustainable Development Technology Canada

Melissa graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Master's Degree in Bio-Resource and Chemical Engineering and has been affiliated  with the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance, the Clean Air Foundation, and Summerhill Group.  She is presently a Director for National Relations for the Canadian Bio-Energy Association and Strategic Analyst for Fleet Challenge Ontario
